Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our high school encourages students to succeed academically by scheduling weekly intervention courses for students that need more assistance in a class, and rewards students doing well in their classes by letting them select an enrichment activity organized by teachers based on student interests. Teachers get to sponsor activities to share with their own students and also meet people from outside their usual subject and grade level.
Knitting and crochet are popular and accessible creative outlets for people of all abilities, and I would love to be part of introducing it to students.
However, yarns and supplies are difficult to provide in large enough amounts to accommodate a classroom. My kids and I would appreciate some community support to help foster perseverance, skill, and patience through learning a new hobby.
