My students are from Ford City, Pennsylvania in rural Armstrong County. I teach gifted education to Kindergarten through 6th grade. They come from a variety of backgrounds and excel in Reading, Mathematics, or both.
My students have a LOVE for learning and are inquisitive about the world around them.
They like to explore and learn by being actively engaged in their surroundings. They thrive on project based learning and love to READ, READ, READ!
They have a knack for exploring and taking advantage of our technological resources to learn about new places, people, and history. They have different interests and like to share their wealth of knowledge from those particular interests with group discussions and writing.
I am so incredibly blessed to be able to work with these students whom I believe someday will greatly impact others around them.
My Project
“To invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of stuff.” -Thomas Edison
Children explore our world as scientists without even knowing it.
They ask questions and are curious about the world around us. As an elementary teacher, I love to ignite curiosity about the subjects I teach. My students love to experiment and become actively involved in learning. The K'nex Education curriculum delivers science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science for students in Kindergarten through sixth grade. It features projects that incorporate engineering and coding.
My goal is to create a STEAM lab in our elementary building for our 830 students. Our building has recently purchased Virtual Reality Viewers through Google Education and iPads. However, we need the key piece to enable the students to use HANDS ON learning. The teachers in our building will use the STEAM LAB to enhance their lessons. The K’nex Education teacher guides contain easy to use lesson plans that are optimized for classroom use. Our students will become more involved; remember what they see, and make connections to what they are learning.
Each kit listed below will be used in the STEAM lab for grades K-6. When using the K’NEX Education – Building Simple Machines Class Set, students will be able to work together to build 22 engaging machines and models. These machines will demonstrate the function of levers and pulley systems.
The Robotics Building System Set has progressive lesson plans plus downloadable programming software which allows students to build & program 9 unique robots.
With the STEAM lab, educators will have engaged students that are motivated to explore and problem-solve in the world around us. The possibilities are endless!
