Kitchen Equipment Must Be Sanitary!

Help me give my students a portable dishwasher to insure that the equipment that we are using in the foods lab is sanitary.

My Students

I have a diverse group of students throughout my day! They have different levels of intellect, as well as different grades. They are fifth and sixth grade students. Some of them want to learn to cook and some students may be coming for the food because they don't get a secure amount from home.

Our middle school students are a loving and accepting group, I know because I am a new teacher here.

They meet people from many different countries and people with a variety of disabilities and they are all welcomed into our school! It is wonderful to watch how tkey accept their peers with unity and enthusiasm!

Our school has some lack of equipment issues. My classroom is in a dire need of of a portable dishwasher, but learning continues. Everyone is accepting what we have to work with and I am demonstrating for remote classes while I teach Special Education students in person in my classroom. I don't concentrate on the issues, we just focus on solutions. They really need a dishwasher because the temperature of the tap water is only at 110 degrees when dish water should be at 140 degrees. This is not sanitary!

My Project

At this point in time, I have special education students learning in person. We need the kitchen equipment to be clean and germ free. I have all other students on remote learning, but eventually all students will be coming back to the Family and Consumer Science Classroom. I am looking forward to teaching them about safe cooking practices, and sanitizing equipment is a basic need when we are cooking. Students must wash their own pots and pans but the water is only at 110 degrees, when we need 130 degrees for sanitary washing of equipment.
