Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

All of my students have very special needs and most of them are working on basic life skills in addition to being exposed to the alternate curriculum for their academics. Please help me give my special scholars a book about feasts and festivals to learn about Lunar New Year and some kinetic sand and molds and learn and play together, as well as sealable storage for small group work to enhance their sensory learning and fine motor skills.

In our special education classroom, academics are paired with sensory play is a crucial part of our daily activities, it helps students develop fine motor skills, motor planning, hand-eye coordination, cognitive abilities, and social skills.

Sensory sand play is particularly beneficial as it provides a calming and engaging way for students to explore textures, shapes, and engage in social creative play. This Kinetic Sand and various molds will encourage my scholars to engage in social hands-on learning, practice writing and drawing in the sand, and improve their sensory processing skills. The tactile experience of the sand will also help students with sensory sensitivities feel more comfortable and focused.
