My kindergartners are a rambunctious, energetic group that love to sing. Art, theater and dance are some of the kids favorite subjects-because they get to move!
Our community is located very close to the border, so many of our students are multilingual.
Ours is a full-inclusion kindergarten, where Special Education students are mainstreamed. We are a breakfast in the classroom school, and are 100% free-reduced lunch.
Learning to read and write is important to my kindergartners. They love a good story, and have so much to share.
My Project
My students need Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs and Storage Rack to master the letters and sounds before going on to first grade. The Lakeshore alphabet learning tubs provide young learners concrete examples of objects that begin with various sounds. Sorting, identifying and labeling the carefully selected items in each of these tubs provide kindergartners with hours of engaging, educational time.
The opportunity to interact with these educational materials will develop vocabulary for my students learning English, as well as providing my Special Education students a kinesthetic approach to conquering letter sounds.
My students will be having too much fun to realize how hard they're working, or how much they've learned. I can't wait to call groups to "play" with materials. The full-inclusion preschoolers will especially benefit from the hands-on activities these alphabet learning tubs will provide.
