Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It may be Summer, but soon it will be Fall and Winter and it gets very cold in New England.

This project is requesting yarn for my students to create hats and scarves to show how kindness happens at school by giving away their "school-made "creations to their school peers in grades pre-kindergarten to 8th grade.

My students will learn how to make hats and scarves on our knitting looms. They will learn to take the tubes from the looms and transform them into hats and scarves by sewing them. My students will be creating posters about their community service project at school to encourage their peers to help themselves to their "school-made" hats and scarves. The hats and scarves will be hung up in the hallway by the posters and Post-its (easily accessible). Students who take a hat and/or scarf will be able to leave a positive note and/or drawing when they take a hat and/or scarf.

This project will help all students involved within the community service project-the students creating the hats and scarves will learn how their kindness acts have an immediate and positive impact on the students receiving their creations and the students who choose a hat and/or scarf will learn how others care and want to show them kindness at school. This will have a positive impact at our school from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade.
