I work with approximately 85 students who are the most kindhearted students around!
Each day, we focus on the idea that "Kindness Matters!" I specifically work with these students in the area of language arts and we are always making our work connect to our character!
These students have been working since their first day in 5th grade to prepare themselves for their transition to middle school. They put a great amount of thought, consideration, and understanding into the person they are and the person they want to become. We do this through our character connection lessons, activities, and discussions that continually take place in our classroom!
My Project
Students will be offered a plethora of new literature titles that will be used in our Character Connection classes for independent, partner, small group, and whole group reading lessons.
These new book titles will engage students in their personal character quest to enhance the identification and creation of individual character traits.
While reading these new literature titles, students will engage in making text connections (text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world) and make personal applications to build upon their individual character traits.
Students will also engage in Book Chats with their peers where they will showcase a particular title and promote its underlying character theme while challenging one another to incorporate that particular character trait into daily life endeavors.
