The MCR3 school district is located in a rural, central Missouri farming community. The district serves approximately 260 students K-12. I see elementary and middle school students each week on a fixed schedule; each class period is 50 minutes. Students may also visit the library during open library times. High school students visit the high school library on an open schedule. I also collaborate with high school teachers on a regular basis. When I am occupied with duties in either library, students are served by my certified paraprofessional.
As a school librarian in a small, rural school district, I'm constantly looking for ways to expand my students' world view.
Any additional resources help to achieve this goal. Resources may be used as activities in the library or shared with teachers through the classroom or collaboration with myself.
My Project
The Silhouette Cameo and accessories will help us to spread kindness throughout our building. The Cameo will be used to create motivational quotes to be placed in hallways, classrooms, and on bathroom stalls. Quotes will be submitted by both teachers and students and vetted by a group of teachers. I will also work closely with club sponsors to seek student groups to assist in placing the quotes.
Social emotional learning is extremely important to student growth.
I want my students to always feel safe and for school to be a happy place to be. Quotes throughout our building will encourage these feelings with reminders that kindness always matters.
