Help me give my students books such as,"Ordinary Mary's Good Deed" and "The Invisible String," that will teach them about kindness, good deeds, emotions and self-esteem.
Our school is a K-5 building in the Kansas City Metro area. Students come from diverse backgrounds and many different walks of life. Students are engulfed in opportunities to learn all throughout their school day. They love to read, move and build relationships with friends and adults around them. Many of the students do not have basic needs at home, and our staff strives to create an environment at school in which students know they are safe, welcome and loved.
My Project
These books will help teach my students about kindness and how to treat other people. Students can read through Ordinary Mary's Extraordinary Deed, or Those Shoes and learn that one act can go a long way. The books can be used in counseling lessons, classroom meetings or one on one with students. As students learn how to treat others, they will have less conflict with peers in their classroom, which allows for a positive learning environment where all students feel welcome. These books can benefit all students in the school and can help them become more socially and emotionally aware.
