Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Simply put: here are some things my students have requested I get for them, things that they are unable to afford themselves.

Some have academic purposes (such as the books and messenger bag), some things are just for fun (like the turtle stickers for my students to decorate their school notebooks).

No matter what, I won't lie: I love that Donors Choose added the "Warm, Care & Hunger" category.

I try and make sure that my students' needs (academic, creative and emotional) are met every day. Sometimes the students ask for things they need (for school, or life) and sometimes they just ask me for things that will make them happy. Sometimes it's both (such as the books a student requested... the books are both for entertainment and to boost their reading comprehension). No matter what, a lot of my students have trauma (social anxiety, tumultuous home lives, they have been the victim of bullying, etc.) and I try and make school (and, specifically, my class) a safe space for them. Any help you can offer in this endeavors, I would appreciate it immensely (and my students would love it!).
