"Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you. " -Princess Diana
I teach third grade and this year I have 2 groups of 25 students.
I teach at a public school and we are feeling the cutbacks like everyone else. Our budget doesn't allow for extra resources and supplies. I have a classroom full of children who love art and enjoy sharing it with others.
My Project
"Mother Teresa said, "We cannot do great things, but we can do small things with great love." I think it is important that children learn early on how fortunate they are to have the families, homes, friends, and learning opportunities they do.
Through service learning, my hope is that my students will discover the joy and satisfaction of helping others.
My goal is to do at least one service project each month for our Kindness Counts Club. The students will use the unfinished chalkboards to create a gift for the residents at a care center near our school.
The Thanksgiving and Christmas crafts will be delivered to the people that receive Meals on Wheels. (This is a program that provides food for the elderly that are homebound.)
The dog tags and notepads will be used to reward my students for kind acts of service in the classroom and at recess. You can truly make a difference by contributing to this project.
