My students need pocket folders, magnetic dots, and posters to continue working on activities and building relationships within our school building for the Middle School Kindness Challenge that we participated in this year.
In the beginning of the year, our middle school accepted the Middle School Kindness Challenge. We all signed this pledge, students and teachers alike: "I pledge to be fearless and kind-to be inclusive-to stand up for those who need my help-and to make a difference wherever I can, wherever I can, because I can!"
We are a suburban public middle school of more than 900 students.
Our students worked hard on many kindness centered activities through our Flex classes and have made a commitment to making our school kinder, stronger, and safer for all of our students. We want to continue the movement and keep building an environment where kindness is part of our culture.
My Project
At our school, we are not allowed to use masking tape on our lockers. Having magnet dots allows us to post things on our lockers such as our Kindness pledges, inspirational kind messages, and other student created items which will allow us to continue to create a positive environment and share our culture.
The About Me posters will be used at the 6th grade level as the students transition to the middle school level.
They will allow each student to have a voice and share their unique self. Since we are merging several elementary schools together, students are meeting each other for the first time and will be able to find friends with commonalities and also see that we care about them as individuals. We will use these posters to introduce them to the middle school student body. The folders will be very helpful throughout the school for our Flex class period where students work on a variety of activities including character education and spreading kindness. Having folders as a storage spot to house activities in progress will be a great organizational tool for students.
