Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are scientists, mathematicians, readers, authors, and explorers. Our students make discoveries each and every day. They are budding world leaders and the world changers of tomorrow. They need literature choices to learn about kindness, caring, and empathy.
I want to make sure my students have different learning experiences that include learning about people that do no come from their town, look like them, or have experiences that expand their understanding of the world.
These books will allow those experiences for my students that otherwise they may not get.
My Project
These books will be used for literature circle groups. The books will be utilized along with our school's Keys of Excellence program, which includes the philosophy of teaching children about integrity, failure leading to success, speaking with a purpose, ownership, commitment, flexibility, and balance.
These books will immerse my students in the lives of characters that are learning about kindness, caring and compassion.
The variety of books in this project will provide different experiences with which to view these character building concepts and allows for maximum engagement by providing students with the chance to choose a book they identify most closely with.
