Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are bilingual special education learners with all different levels of language proficiency. Each one of them has their own specific learning needs in order to be successful in my classroom. We are a dual language elementary school with more than 3/4 of our student population consisting of low income families.

Many of these students are struggling to learn basic reading skills due to their specific learning disorders in reading.

As a 2nd year special education teacher I have found the most success when teaching interactive learning lessons where students can be in charge of their own learning! Thank you!

My Project

Kindles will provide my students with specific reading disabilities access to independent reading. With a Kindle a student can listen to an audio book while reading along with the print. This one tool will create opportunities for students to access text at their grade level and read books that may have previously been to difficult for them without audio support.

Student with disabilities in reading need access to technology tools to support their reading independence!

Kindles will give these students a reason to read, taking the difficulty that their disability creates and lightening the load for them to be able to enjoy reading again!
