Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a multitude of backgrounds. They do all have one thing in common, though. They are all economically challenged. I teach in one of the highest poverty areas in the city. When they come in the classroom, the kids can hopefully leave their troubles at the door, and most do. They strive to do their very best at all they do and really want to please their parents and all adults. My "kids" are incredible, and most are a true inspiration to me each morning when I see their smiling faces.

My Project

We need ten Kindle Fires in order to play our math based games and reading games in the classroom. I am also going to use the devices to borrow e-books for the students from the public library for them to have an endless library of books to read. My students use a lot of web-based programs in the classroom and our iPads are limited and getting worn out. These devices are perfect replacements for the students to use. Not only can we play learning games but we can also use them for research and reading program independent reading times throughout the day at school.
