My Students

My students are a diverse group of kids that come from all walks of life. I have kids that come from section 8 housing; as well as, foster kids, and middle income students.

Due to our higher number of lower income students we are considered an at-risk school.

However, because of our middle income families, we are unable to get Title I funding which would provide so many more resources. Regardless of socioeconomics, all my students are energetic, curious, and enthusiastic learners!

My Project

Kindles are a useful tool in the classroom for use in learning centers, intervention time for students needing additional assistance and as a research tool. These Kindles will give me the opportunity to provide my students access to the internet and a variety of apps to use in the classroom. Moby Max is an app that my kids can use that finds and fixes learning gaps with the power of personalized learning in all K-8 subjects, including math, reading, language, writing, science, and social studies!

Our school has extremely limited technology.

It is old, worn and slow. We are unable to get funding from our school district and are working within a very limited budget. I am currently sharing 21 computers in a daily 45 minute period with another teacher. Between us we have 72 kids! We have to get very creative if we want to type a simple essay. I have already purchased 10 kindles out of my own money and am working toward a class set 5 at a time. These Kindles would open so many windows for my kiddos!
