Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a Title I, K-5 school in New York City. Our school is a small, progressive public school that emphasizes inquiry-based learning. Due to our small size, we are perpetually underfunded, and are currently lacking with technology.
Our students are diverse, creative and imaginative learners.
My students are energetic and eager to learn new things! They enter the classroom each morning with a smile on their face, ready to face the day. They enjoy talking with each other and working in groups. It's very exciting to hear students discussing a topic and making discoveries as they work together and share their ideas. Even though we are in a small school with a limited budget, I want them to be able to try new things, investigate their own interests with classmates, and create a real love for learning. Together we are looking forward to a productive year!
My Project
Classrooms today are filled with students who are eager to learn. Unfortunately, our students are lacking the resources they need to be successful in the 21st century.
Our classroom needs Amazon Kindle Fire tablets to allow them to incorporate technology into our daily learning centers.
Students will use the tablets to strengthen their math and literacy fluency, science skills, and STEM overall! STEM gives students the opportunity to explore through hands-on activities as well as building little engineers!
Having tablets and headphones allows our students to be engaged in their learning, while increasing their technology skills. The charging station allows us to keep the tablets safe and charged for the next fun day of exploration!
