My Students
I love when I see my students faces change with wonder when they are leaning about the Spanish culture. Right now they use textbooks and learn the old fashion way. I want them to experience Spanish through technology so their learning gets enriched with sounds and pictures.
Our students have different backgrounds.
We have them from very low income neighborhoods and from middle class. The school itself is small and even though our principal tries to incorporate as much technology as possible she does not have the funds to make it available to every class. I use ppt for my lessons and I try to incorporate as much technology as possible to engage them however being hands on in the classroom is priceless. My students will really appreciate having the opportunity to actually handle the tablets and not worry that the computer is taken. We have one. Being able to download videos, listen to podcast and take videos of skits done in the class will engage my student to the fullest. Technology is the way in today's world to engage a class.
My Project
My students need 18 tablets. Students can use the kindle in different ways. We usually do skits in the classroom so recording them and listening for pronunciation would be awesome so peer feedback can be given. There are many Spanish ebooks that we can download and read in the classroom. Videos, movies could be downloaded and viewed. Also there are thousand of websites dedicate to help students learn Spanish so access to them will make their learning easier and fun.
By donating the kindle tablets you would make my students aware that there are people out there that really care about their education.
It would show them that being generous and kind really should be appreciated. My students would feel proud to be the recipients of this technology and it would open their eyes to so many different way of learning.
