My Students

Technology is a big part of today's world. Your child probably already interacts with an iPod, DSi, or Smartphone on a daily basis--just for FUN. They love it, and they can't get enough! That is the kind of enthusiasm I want to bring to my classroom with 2 new Kindle Fires. They will love to learn!

I am a third-grade reading teacher in a rural school district in Oklahoma.

I have approximately 36, 8- and 9-year-old students in my class every year. I teach Reading, Language, and Spelling. Our school is part of a high-poverty district with a very low budget for technology. So, when we receive new items of technology, my students come alive! They can't wait to interact and learn in a way that "paper and pencil" just can not compare!

My Project

My students would greatly benefit from the use of two Kindle Fires. We will utilize the Kindles during our RtI (Response to Intervention) reading groups to read numerous ebooks, interact with higher-level learning games, practice reading skills through educational apps, and explore research topics on a whole new level.

Our school is a wonderful place to learn and grow, however money for new technology is scarce within our district.

I do not want my students to be left behind in a world that is very technology-driven. Donors who choose to contribute to our learning project will be sincerely appreciated by my entire class--and many classes to come! This new technology is sure to set their enthusiasm for reading and learning ON FIRE!
