My students need six Amazon Fire tablets in order to create a small group that will be tailored to their instructional needs to help them achieve grade level reading standards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are large group of incredible children that overcome obstacles in their personal lives and continue to come to school. They enter the classroom with a hunger to learn and I am inspired by them everyday.
My students are a diverse set of learners that each need tailored individualized instruction to get them to the next level.
In order to do this I need to obtain more resources to be able to give them what they need to succeed.
My Project
During my guided reading block, the students are put in stations and given a task tailored to their reading level. Having the Kindle Fires will help me create an extra group that will keep students engaged and help them achieve grade level standards.
Many of our students are failing behind in reading and fourth grade is a crucial year to make sure that they get to grade level before fifth grade.
If students do not get to grade level by the end of fourth grade, they are much more likely to drop out of school.
The Kindle Fires would help to excite the students and help them see reading as a fun activity and not a chore.
