During my guided reading block, the students are put in stations and given a task tailored to their reading level. Having the Kindle Fires will help me create an extra group that will keep students engaged and help them achieve grade level standards. Many of our students are failing behind in reading and fourth grade is a crucial year to make sure that they get to grade level before fifth grade. If students do not get to grade level by the end of fourth grade, they are much more likely to drop out of school. The Kindle Fires would help to excite the students and help them see reading as a fun activity and not a chore.
