About My Students

My Students are some of the most fascinating people in New York City.

My school is located in Queens, New York, the most culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood in the world.

The children who enter my classroom, come from all over NYC.

As such, they carry with them a wealth of knowledge, that contributes to a dynamic classroom. However, many of my students also come from economically disadvantaged homes. Therefore, most of the time, resources are scarce. We need your help!

My students, who are all seniors, will use their new Kindles to enhance their digital senior exit portfolios. My children, all 125 of them, will create a living document that exemplifies their best work. The portfolio is composed of works from all content areas, as well as personal interests, that have been compiled over the course of the past four years. At our school, the portfolio is an innovative, alternative assessment.

By supporting this project, you will not only support the class of 2017, but future graduating classes as well.

The senior exit portfolio is completed and presented by every graduation candidate, prior to the commencement exercises. Your contribution will help an entire generation of up and coming, college bound, young professionals.

In Their Own Words

The goal we are trying to accomplish is to make education and technology go hand and hand. Making teaching and learning very interesting and easy. Using technology in a class room can open many doors for the students, it can make studying and classwork go much faster, therefore saving more time for questions and discussions.

Leadership is very important in a student's life because leadership skills are needed almost everywhere. Developing leadership in this project would make a big impact on the students and myself.. Taking care of the technology, charging them and making sure they are ready for others to use them are just some of the responsibilities they will have.

This project is very important to my school community and myself because it would make learning much easier for us, we would save more time for questions and reviews after the lesson. Our school would work much faster and better. Students would most likely be more interested to learn. Having technology in the classroom would also give us more opportunities to work with technology in the future.
