My students need 2 Kindles and cases to experience the joy of reading a variety of fiction and non-fiction books.
Have you ever wanted to read a book so badly, only to go to the library to find out that there is a waiting list to check it out? My students experience this frequently because our school library is so small.
My students are happy, hard-working, motivated students who are excited to learn.
Unfortunately, our little low income school has a very modest library. Many of my students don't have books to read at home and our community libraries continue to face budget cuts, forcing many to close or limit hours.
Having these Kindles donated to our class would allow my students to read nearly anything that peaks their interest from the classics like Tom Sawyer and Old Yeller, to the mischievous adventures of Hank Zipzer, and the wild adventures of Harry Potter. In addition my students could also find many non fiction stories to explore the world beyond our little town.
I want my students to love reading and providing them with digital books not only offers endless titles to chose from, but also the technology that they crave to use.
I had my students write an story about what they would do if they were given money to spend in our classroom. They overwhelmingly wished for more books and more technology. Please help me make their wishes come true.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
