My Students

My 2nd graders walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to know I believe in them and they can do anything. They come from a variety of different economic backgrounds in our rural community. Our entire school population receives free breakfast and lunch each day. Many of our population are English language learners that only hear English spoken during the time they are at school. It is my job to help support them with as many learning opportunities as I can while they are in my care, at school! My kiddos are intelligent boys and girls that love coming to my class each day because of the safe, fun, and loving environment that I provide. They are motivated by collaborative and project-based learning projects. Several are from military families that have a mother or a father that deploys.

I've spent the last 31 years teaching 2nd grade with a one year stint in 3rd grade; teaching is my passion, and I want to do all I can to help the students!

My Project

The Kindle Fires that I am requesting will be used to make the subjects I teach more engaging. Because I teach all the subjects, I am responsible for reading, grammar, writing, math, science, and social studies. Having students that vary in ability level from kindergarten to third grade in a second-grade class presents a daily challenge. These Kindle Fires will help me to have a more engaging classroom for my students. All my students would have a chance to use the Kindles to practice spelling words, use reading apps, and listen to stories using a QR reading code. They will play educational games for math, science, and social studies. These games will help to cement the concepts that we are working on in class. The Kindles will also give remedial practice to students that are struggling in various subjects. There are so many great educational apps and websites that will make these Kindle Fires indispensable tools in our classroom.

By donating to this project, you will ensure that my students get the exposure they need to new and improved technology.

You will also be giving my students fun and engaging opportunities to practice the skills that we are learning in class. Your donations will also help my struggling students by giving them the ability to practice the skills they need at their level.
