I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district where my students face several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these many challenges, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
These students are growing and learning in the same small, tight knit, school community that inspired me to be a teacher.
They are dreamers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners. They are mini inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are budding ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career
My Project
We need four Kindle Fire Tablets to become successful in the 21st century. The new Common Core standards encourage students to integrate literacy into all areas of the curriculum. What better way to do that than with a Kindle Fire? My students need 21st century technology that will KINDLE their interests further in reading, writing, math, and science! With limited access to computers in the classroom, having to share the computer lab only every other week gets old.
Working in a Title I School, my classroom may be the only place some of my students have the opportunity to engage in activities that involve the most up-to-date technology.
I want to use these materials to bring differentiated instruction during centers that cover all curriculum areas: reading, math, social students, and science.
