Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a Title I school with approximately 85% of the students on free or reduced price lunch. Although we are not a wealthy community, our parent community is very supportive of our school and its commitment to student success.
My dual language kindergarten students are eager, risk-taking students who have met all the challenges I have given them, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
They are active, visual learners and learn best through movement and hands-on opportunities. This project will help them continue to learn about the world around them in a safe and meaningful way.
My Project
My students need this mobile backpack storage cart so that they can safely store their belongings during the day. We are in a regular classroom as opposed to a bigger Kindergarten classroom, therefore space is limited. Our backpacks stay outside on the floor or near the back of the room. We could roll this mobile cart outside and free up space so my students could have more space to work. We do not always work at the tables, so this would give us more clear floor space to safely work together.
By placing their backpacks on this cart, my students will not have to worry about tripping over them or having them get wet outside during rainy days.
This mobile backpack cart would eliminate the backpacks laying on the ground to make our room safer. I want my classroom to be a safe, kind community of learners, and this mobile backpack cart will make keep our room safer and cleaner so we can focus on our learning.
