My public school Kindergarten students are diverse, energetic, curious and my heart! Our school just piloted full-day Kindergarten this year. It is very exciting to see how much these little ones are learning. We love to read, read, and READ some more! They have a variety of interests and enjoy different types of books which have inspired many projects and themes throughout the school year beyond reading. It has been amazing being a part of their love for reading and watching it blossom more as they become readers themselves! One thing that warms my heart everyday is that my class would rather read or listen to a story when given a choice to anything else!
My Project
An organized classroom and especially reading system can make a difference in student progress and growth as a reader! I want to provide my students a way to hold books in a fun place and also find different types of books easily to keep reading momentum going. The Help-Yourself Storage Bins would be used to organize leveled reading books and also in the classroom library by labeling bins by author, genre or theme. The Connect and Store Book Bins would be for students to keep their individual books. The library in my room is limited with storage and space. These bins could allow for a variety of ways to display books and give a colorful and warm learning environment! My students would love to have their own bins to keep track of books. I would love to be able to locate books with ease and spend less time searching with a clear system to keep the reading momentum going this year and many years to follow!
