My Students

My students have high hopes and dreams for their futures. Many of them want to be doctors, nurses, scientists, and teachers when they grow up. However, some of the communities they come from are severely under-served. Some of my students come from single parent households or are being raised by other family members.

I believe that no matter where they come from or what they go through, all of my students deserve a chance.

They deserve a chance to learn in an environment that makes them feel loved and safe. They deserve a chance to learn in a classroom where there is a teacher using the best practices possible for them to learn. They deserve a chance to forget about what they might be dealing with at home and just be kids.

My Project

Teaching during a pandemic has not been easy. Many special projects that we would normally do have been set aside out of safety for the students. While many things have been different this year, I have made it my mission to enrich my students' learning whenever I can. After doing some research, coding seems to be a great way to safely enrich our curriculum and have fun while doing it.

Coding has many benefits to it.

For one, it helps children learn how to problem solve. Problem solving is a life long skill that children can carry with them wherever they go. Coding also expands creativity and helps a child develop resilience. These skills can also be carried to other areas of academia as well as situations in the real world.
