Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergartners are 23 of the smartest, artistic and loving kids. They come to school each day ready to try and learn new things.
They are particularly curious and enthusiastic about science and technology.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students are English Language Learners.
As children of the 21st century, my students need to be empowered with the technological knowledge and tools to engage their world and have a real opportunity to compete.
My Project
Part of providing our students with the best possible education is preparing them to utilize the technology that exists today so that they will be able to comfortably incorporate it in their lives. For this reason, I am exposing my students to computer science.
My students are currently learning how to code and they love it!
There are multiple applications and websites to get my pre-reading students to engage in meaningful coding challenges that develop computational thinking. But in order to do so, I need more iPads so that more students can access the coding apps and websites. Having two more iPads will increase the time students can engage in coding challenges and learning.
