This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Children need more than just academics to receive a well-rounded education. School would be boring if all they had to do was work, work, work! Children need to be exposed to the arts. What better way than to expose my students to music and dance like Baryshnikov in the Nutcracker?
My students come from all different backgrounds and families.
Some are economically disadvantaged, English language learners, and coming from single parent homes or homes where they are being raised by relatives. My students are sponges! They are always willing to learn and try new things. They are always asking questions. They love doing any type of projects that I put together for them. Our school is an awesome school! We just don't have funding for items in the classroom.
My Project
My students will be able to learn about music from around the world with an iPod and docking station. They will also be able to see different dances from around the world and be exposed to different cultures. My students love singing their alphabet song. They have learned so much just by singing the letters and sounds. If I am able to play more songs for them to learn from like rhymes.
I will be able to play songs from their own cultures and have the other students in the classroom listen to the music. They would talk about the instruments and sounds they hear. It would be a great learning experience because, a lot of times, students don't hear music from other cultures. They would be able to ask each other questions about the music or dance. Students would be able to interact together through their culture's music. It will give them a better look into the other cultures other than their own.
Seeing how much fun my students had practicing and singing a song for Thanksgiving was so awesome!
They kept asking every day if we were going to sing and dance again. The donations for this project will expose my students to a wide range of music and dance. It will broaden their learning of other cultures and expose them to the arts. My students will receive the well-rounded education that helps make every student successful throughout their education!
More than half of students from low‑income households
