This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

More often than not, those who enter our room never want to leave. The respectfully raised hands, the smiles, the thoughtful questions and comments, the creative, high-quality work produced by young students and impressing everyone they meet! Love and learning radiate all day long. This is my job.

Enthusiastic, thoughtful, and hardworking, the students in our room never cease to amaze!

My students are members of a diverse, highly populated, urban school community. Over half of our school population are English Language Learners, and in our classroom alone, you will find a variety of languages and cultures are represented. Many of my students are coming from dedicated families working under difficult conditions to support themselves as well as their children's learning.

My Project

I have requested a variety of materials that will support my students' learning in science and social studies- two areas which all too often play second fiddle to other subjects. I have requested a variety of STEM kits and a Social Emotional Learning (SEL) kit to aid in this process.

These materials will not only boost my students' learning, but excite, challenge, and engage their minds as well!

I know my students and their families will benefit greatly from these materials. The resources include a variety of materials including posters, books, games, and STEM challenges.

I have also requested a set of family engagement STEM packs that students can take home to complete with their families to support learning at home. Engaging my students' families is of the upmost importance to me and will not only increase family engagement, but foster positive relationships as well. The take-home kits include directions in both English and Spanish which will benefit my students and their families immensely. I just know that my students and their families will LOVE spending time and completing these fun challenges together!
