My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher at a Title I public elementary school in Brooklyn's East New York where all students qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Our students are a diverse group coming from countries all around the world, particularly from Bangladesh and Central America. Our families are all different and many children are living in shelters. With that comes a variety of learning and emotional needs.
I want to provide the children with a fun and engaging area for learning.
The table will be a great place to have small group instruction activities. A comfortable area were the children can feel that they are being provided with special attention. I plan to use the table and chairs for guided reading instructions and for group work.
My Project
My kindergarten class is always a busy place with children doing and learning their basic skills. When my classroom is well stocked with basic supplies, nothing can stop the activities and hands-on fun. Right now, however, even at the beginning of the new school year, I'm running low on supplies and need help restocking my classroom.
I'm requesting sets of Crayola colored pencils, markers, and crayons, Post-it easel pads, kid scissors, and Elmer's glue sticks.
These basic supplies will be used throughout our day for all subjects. The children can use Crayola products for pictures and in their math and reading workbooks. We always need Elmer's glue sticks and scissors for our art projects. And, the Post-it easel pads are for anchor charts and my small group learning sessions.
