Kindergartners Love STEM!

My students need STEM activities which allow them to learn problem solving skills, perseverance and creativity to help prepare them for the jobs of tomorrow.

My Students

My students come to school each day excited to learn. They are a culturally diverse group of students that come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, but are united in their enthusiasm and joy for learning. My kindergarten class consists of high energy 5 and 6 year olds that learn best through exploration and experimentation.

The students start off each day with a spark that I wish to foster through highly engaging, interactive experiences.

They love anything and everything hands-on and I try to encourage this through STEM activities that allow them to inquire, explore and create. In this way I hope to aid them on the path to being a life-long learner.

My Project

Jobs of the future will be geared towards people that are problem solvers, innovators and have perseverance. And what better place to begin fostering these traits than in kindergarten.

I am requesting multiple STEM kits and activities that will give my students an opportunity to develop innovation and problem solving skills that will help them succeed in school and life.

STEM buildings kits are open ended projects that can go anywhere the mind can take you. Our children need and crave these sorts of opportunities. Activities that challenge the mind, like designing a balloon propelled car or building a magnetic tower, allow students to problem solve as they work together and create. The Stretch and Connect Builders, Roller Coaster Design and the Chain Reaction kit will give the students a chance to create and innovate in an engaging, hands-on way. I have also included Learning Lock kits that will help them develop the math and language skills to support their learning and independent thinking. This grant will help to open up a world of possibilities for my students.
