Kindergartners Listening

My students need a classroom CD and cassette player, 8 headphones, and 2 junction boxes to listen to books on tape to improve their reading skills in all subject areas.

My Students

Did you love kindergarten? My students do! They come to school eager and ready to learn every day.

I teach kindergarten to a highly motivated, fun, and diverse group of students at a Title I school.

The school and I are unable to provide all the materials that are needed in order for them to reach their full potential. A listening center is one of the items that we are unable to provide, but would benefit my students greatly.

My Project

My students love reading and listening to books on tape. In order to do this, my students need a listening post. A listening post consists of a cassette player, headphones, and a junction box. Students will listen to books being read to them as they practice reading skills and strategies. After listening to the book, my students will write about the story including the character, setting, and big idea. They will also be able to listen to music and songs. They will be able to follow along and read the words as they are singing them. By providing a classroom CD and cassette player, headphones, and a junction box, my students will have the items needed to listen to books on tape and music as they practice the reading skills and strategies that are needed for their success.
