My Students

My kindergarten students are some of the sweetest, strongest, and smartest five and six year olds you'll ever meet! They are nothing short of amazing! Even though they are so young, many of them have had to overcome difficult situations, but still manage to have a smile on their face everyday. They come to school excited to learn and ready to interact with their peers and teachers.

My students enter a safe and loving environment the moment they step foot in the classroom.

For many of my students, school is the safest, most consistent, part of their day. They recognize that regardless of the color of their skin, the language they speak, the clothes they wear, etc. they will be loved and treated the same as the person sitting next to them. I teach in a title one school where the majority of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. Even though poverty is prevalent in the area where I teach; my students continue to prevail with positive attitudes! They truly enjoy coming to school each day to learn and get the love and attention they deserve!

My Project

Kindergarten students are little, but mighty! They love being able to take control of their learning and show what they know using a hands-on approach. The mini magic boards, sight word building game, magnetic letters, and magnetic white board that is the perfect height for a kindergartner will ensure students are able to do this!

It is my belief that all students can learn!

However, just like adults, not all kids are the same or learn in the same fashion. Therefore, I am also asking for materials focused around students with special needs. Inclusion, educating all children in the regular education classroom, is paramount in today's ever changing world. Unfortunately, this is not something I can successfully achieve without differentiated materials for students with learning disabilities or other special needs.

By donating to this project, you will not only help provide students with hands-on materials to show their learning, but you will also help make sure ALL students are successful and feel a sense of pride during their kindergarten year!
