Help me give my students the literacy and math skills they need to succeed with Phonemic Awareness Instant Learning Centers and Early Math Instant Learning Centers.
This is my first year teaching and I have landed my dream grade level right out of the gate.
I work at an art based charter school which brings a unique group of students. These kids come from all walks of life and experiences. My students are a wonderful blend of little humans and they enrich my life each day.
One of the things that I enjoy about this age group is their willingness to keep trying. I always use the line, “I can do hard things”. I use it when I make mistakes or am trying to learn something new, like teaching. After only a few weeks of school many of my students use this line when struggling to learn a new concept. Their can do spirit is contagious. This feeling has played a big part I our classroom culture and community. I cannot wait to see what the rest of my first year brings.
My Project
As a first year teacher, I am still putting together my classroom supplies. The items I have chosen will benefit in my center bases learning. With half day kindergarten time if limited. I want to be able to provide meaningful lesson and centers in my short blocks of time. I use my center time to help the students learn to work and learn independently.
In kindergarten we are focusing heavily on phonemic awareness and number sense.
The phonemic awareness set I chose will help them learn these concepts in a fun and interactive way. The early math set I chose will also help them learn their numbers and gain a stronger understanding of number sense. Giving the students ownership of their own learning is a powerful thing and I feel these items will help with those goals.
