Help me give my students materials to create meaningful writing and reading lessons. These mentor texts, writing stickers, mirrors, and decodable readers will provide explicit instruction for the writing standards, phonics, and phonemic awareness.
My students come to school eager to learn. They love working together, sharing their ideas, and helping their peers. Because my students are very energetic, they love learning through active, engaging, and hands on activities. They are not content to sit idly by and let the teacher do all of the work.
These students are highly motivated by learning that occurs through social interaction.
They are always eager to assist their peers in a variety of ways. They love to help friends succeed in anyway they can. They are truly kind, amazing people!
My Project
Kindergartners are expected to master standards in reading in writing in a very shortened learning day. Every minute is precious. Reading and writing lessons have to be precise and explicit. Not to mention, engaging!
The mentor texts will aid writing lessons covering every writing standard.
They will help to bring understanding to complex ideas such as opinions, facts, research, etc. The stickers will provide writing practice as students use them to practice hearing sounds in words and applying their phonics knowledge to write the corresponding letters. The mirrors will help students monitor correct mouth placements for each phoneme. Students will then need time to practice these skills at home by reading the decodable readers.
