Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious. They ask questions, observe the world around them, and have a great love of reading, drawing, and writing.
They enjoy reading books from our classroom library and then they love creating their own books.
We lead daily writing lessons on topics such as school, families, community workers, animals, seasons, and much more. Students are also enjoying daily interactive reading lessons. During reading lessons my students love sharing their opinions about stories and informational topics while practicing respecting each other's views.
Our school is a leadership school. At P.S. 74 Future Leaders Elementary School, children practice being leaders in many aspects. They enjoy being table leaders, line leaders, supply leaders, cleaning leaders...while keeping in mind that they will become future leaders of our country. These leadership skills help them become resourceful and independent learners. My students enjoy using various writing and reading tools and they couldn't do it all without DonorsChoose supporters.
My Project
My little kindergartens have just completed learning the entire alphabet and they are so ready to capture the world through writing. These wonderful materials will help my kindergarteners write during different times of a day. During the writer's workshop, students usually get a paper choice. I need to have several shelves where to store the writing sheets. The drawer cart will provide that for us. Students will be able to access different writing paper choices by pulling out the drawers and beginning their writing. The folders will help students store their writing pieces as they work through the writing process. The folders will also, help them clearly understand the writing process and where they are in the process. They will also enjoy interactive writing time during centers using the colorful writing prompt set. The writing prompts will be also students' choices as well. It would be great for students to write for many different reasons with no fear and being happy to share it with their peers.
