This is a bright and active group of five and six-year-old children. They love to create and tell stories. They love to read and be read to. They are quickly learning to work together, which is a vital skill in our world. My children work in small groups and independently throughout the day. This helps them learn to focus and improve self-control issues. Small group activities that let us get up and move help our ADHD tendencies stay under control. We need real reasons to move and stretch.
My students grow in all areas by practicing and playing together.
Writing throughout the day in science, social studies, math, and even in art helps them in so many ways. They get noisy, but they learn so much together. They need supplies to grow as readers, writers, and illustrators. Our parents just cannot afford to supply these items. The students need to show the colors of their ideas. They also need ways to be active and help learn to control ADHD tendencies. There is so much to learn.
Kindergarteners are busy learning letters and sight words. We are matching sounds to the letters and decoding CVC, (consonant vowel consonant) words. We are building word families, too. We are gathering lots of skills, but need some great resources to apply these skills.
Beginning readers will give us the perfect chance to show all these skills in action.
These books will give us the practice we need to grow as readers. This book selection includes some of our favorite characters. We will read with Little Critter, Pete the Cat, Biscuit and the Berenstain Bears. We will learn about ourselves as we study these characters.
With these books, we will practice, learn and grow.
