This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

FULL-DAY-KINDER CLASS: "When are we going home?" I'm trying to avoid this question because it means students are bored & not happy. Five-year-olds have short attention spans & enjoy movement. An ipod & dock can help me implement physical activities to make learning fun & engaging throughout the day.

Budget cuts have lead to numerous layoffs greatly impacting my low income school.

My school district lost teachers, teacher aides, librarians, art instructors, nurses, psychologist, custodians, secretaries, assistant principals, etc. The following are a few examples directly impacting my students education: *My student to teacher ratio has increased to 25:1. *I will only have an aide to help me individualize instruction for approximately 50 min. per day. * My students may have difficulties checking out books because we lost our librarian. *My students may not have an opportunity to receive art instruction (i.e. drama, theater, and dance) from district art teachers, which is why I need an ipod and dock. As a co-teacher, I will be responsible for incorporating art, physical education, and language development for all kindergarten students at my school. However, due to budget cuts my school is unable to supply these resources.

My Project

Having an ipod and sound dock system will allow me to incorporate music, movement, and learning in fun and engaging ways. All kindergarten students will be able to express themselves creatively through the arts as they hear music in our large mulitpurpose room. Kindergarteners will perform for parents, staff, and students during our winter and spring programs.
