My students need new and exciting math games, manipulatives, books and puzzles to supplement our math program and provide "hands-on" learning centers in math.
Kids always learn more when they can manipulate materials and have "hands-on" experiences with the content being taught. Math is fun to teach . . . if you have a plethora of kid-friendly and stimulating manipulatives that all students can enjoy.
I teach in a higher poverty school, and 75% of my class receives free lunches.
Our community was severely damaged by a deadly tornado on May 22, and many families lost their homes, belongings and even friends and family. Also a great deal of our local stores were damaged as well so shopping has become very challenging to buy even basic items. I want my classroom to be a fun and exciting place that kids want to come to and be challenged and learn everyday.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting are mainly math items. I have asked for some math related big books that will help teach the basic concepts. I have also asked for some math games for math centers, manipulatives and some fun "hands-on" math activities. My students will learn how to have fun while learning mathematical concepts and learn to enjoy learning about math.
I hope to have my project funded so I can provide fun, stimulating, challenging, kid-friendly and exciting math opportunities for my kindergarten students.
They will be learning without even knowing that they are learning!
