My Students

I have the best students! Really, I do! They are full of energy and are so eager to learn.

This would be surprising if you looked at their statistics.

They come from a very low income and very rural part of the state. Our school is way out in the countryside, surrounded by pastures with grazing cattle and beautiful ponds. It feels almost like a place where time stood still. The students come to school every day knowing that they are loved.

My Project

Kinetic sand and sensory beads will draw the children like flies to honey. They will have fun learning about measurement and problem solving through open ended exploration.

Research shows that hands on experiences and cooperative learning are vital to early childhood development.

Geostix, sorting buttons, pattern block designs, and snap on number bonds are math manipulatives that will help provide an enriched and authentic learning environment for inquiring young minds. My students get so excited when they get to try new things and learn new concepts! The children will benefit both academically and socially from these sensory-tactile and math activities.
