My Students

My students are all from lower income Asian families. Most of the children were born from poor cities in China and migrated to America. Many parents do not speak English at all. Some parents do not have a job. Most work in low income jobs such as in restaurants, nail salons, or a supermarket. They work long hours with low pay and therefore, many students do not have extra money to buy school suppliers or books they need.

My Project

My students are kindergarteners. Some children have never been in school before. Most of the students are ELL students. They come from a family where parents do not speak English or have very limited English proficiency. The majority of the families are low income families. Students do not have sufficient learning materials or tools that will bring them into the world of Kindergarten. The suppliers I chose from Kaplan Learning Company have many Literacy, Math, and hands-on learning materials that will help my students learn and explore the world and will help them have a smooth transition to Kindergarten.
