Kindergarteners Becoming Great Writers in Vegas Need Journals
My students need journals with kinder friendly lines. They need crayons just for writing time to be able to express their thoughts on paper in a colorful way.
Don't you just love to write? So do my kinder students. Only they require special lines to remember how to form letters properly. They also need wonderful Jumbo crayons to enhance their pictures to help us understand their writing just like real authors do.
My students come from an at-risk school in urban Las Vegas.
Many are English Language Learners and 80% receive free breakfast and lunch. They are diverse and many are coping with challenges. But they all LOVE to learn! They love writing and drawing pictures to communicate their thoughts. If many of them had to choose what is their favorite time during the day, many of them would say WRITING!
My Project
These primary journals are specially made for young writers who are still remembering how to properly form their letters. They have a red bottom line and blue upper and dashed lines. They are the proper size lines too, not to narrow for their chunky writing. Crayons are an essential material in Kindergarten. We use them so much through out the day that my students and I feel that Jumbo crayons used just for writing time would be a amazing add on to our everyday writing routine. They wouldn't be worn. They would be used but would hold up better then your average crayon.
These journals and crayons would be an amazing asset to my classroom.
The children would LOVE to have proper journals and not "home made" ones. These will hold up to their wear and tear and help the kids write properly. The crayons will help add color to our writing and to enhance our pictures.
