Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

As kindergarteners step into school on the first day they are filled with energy and excitement for what they will learn. For many of the students I teach in this low income Chicago school, this is the first time they have been in a school setting. At 5 and 6 years old they are itching to learn new things and become readers and writers. As a teacher trying to teach 21 students to read, I have found that my students learn best when I can work with a small group of students at one time. Leap Pads provide students the opportunity to work on their reading skills on their own. Leap Pads let the child read a story while listening to the story being read to them. In my classroom I currently have over 50 Leap Pad stories, but do not have even 1 Leap Pad which the students can use to read the stories. I hope that you will help these kindergarteners become the best readers they can be!
