Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a Title I school in California. My students are ethnically diverse and qualify for free breakfast and lunch. My students are busy and motivated Kindergarteners who like to explore, make friends, and learn new things everyday. They are learning the importance of teamwork and respect for their peers.
My Kindergarteners love music.
We sing and dance everyday. Due to limited school resources we don't have access to a music teacher this year. I have been taking Professional Development classes for Music Integration and am eager to implement what I have learned. I know my Kindergarteners would benefit if this music project is funded.
My Project
We do not have access to a Music teacher this school year. I want to integrate Music into our daily Kindergarten schedule but have no instruments. I plan to use the Boomwhackers, tambourines, and resonator bells to teach my students music appreciation. They will learn about the elements of Music.
I will incorporate these instruments into our reading program by encouraging my students to interpret, express, and represent the stories we read together with the music they create.
We can create a musical representation of the literature we are learning and this will strengthen their understanding and love of reading.
