Our classroom is a place where children can enter happily and develop independence and a positive self-image while playing and learning. Students learn how to be strategic thinkers as they grow to become lifelong readers and writers.
My kindergarten students are energetic, enthusiastic, and excited about experiencing new things.
They love to learn and just can’t wait to become independent readers. Our school is a community that values a safe and healthy environment where all individuals are respected. In our promotion of healthy bodies and minds, my students are learning to collaborate inside and outside the classroom. In order to be developmentally appropriate, my students rotate through hands-on stations practicing literacy learning. As their first educational experience, it is vital for students to love being at school and collaborating with peers.
My Project
My students will benefit from having a writing center that is made for them! This center is the correct size for early childhood, with materials easily at reach for all kinds of fun writing projects. We use a research-based best practice of Writers Workshop in Kindergarten. Our writing center is used several times throughout the day from Writers Workshop to Literacy Stations, and Academic Choice time. This writing center will benefit by giving students practice not only with letter writing but picture storytelling that moves into words and sentences.
By having opportunities to practice pre-writing fine motor skills, letter writing practice, and developing stories with details, Kindergarteners will be successful for future years of writing.
