This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am amazed by the interest, ability and excitement that some five year-old children have when it comes to technology, especially tablets. Wouldn't it be great to be able to provide ALL Kindergarteners with an opportunity to use technology?

We are located in a rural/suburban school in CA.

We are close enough to the city while still being surrounded by fields. We love to learn and whenever possible, we LOVE to use technology. We just simply don't have enough of it at our school for all of the kids to use.

My Project

My students LOVE to read and play math and science games. They simply cannot get enough books in the classroom or enough time on the computers. These students will use the 5 kindles during one of their daily math and science centers. They will be introduced to many math apps directed toward their age and aligned with Common Core Standards. Some of these apps include: Hungry Fish (learning numbers, adding, subtracting), Math is Fun, Geoboard, and Butterfly Math. Students will be learning, recognizing, manipulating, and making numbers and shapes through the use of these apps while having fun using technology. The kindle covers/stands will help protect the kindles for years to come and the stand will help them keep them still while they are in use. I foresee this center to be popular among the children in my class as this will be an entertaining way to practice math concepts.

By bringing Kindle Fires into the classroom, we will be able to meet many of our needs.

We can access an almost unlimited library of books, as well as access the Internet for practice in our other subjects. We can even download great math games to help us with our math skills! Please help us bring these great tools into the classroom!
