This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in an inner-city school, in Flint, Michigan, where 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. The majority of our students come to us below grade level and have little academic support at home due to the life circumstances of their families.
My students are eager to learn, but need a lot of additional support in all subject areas, in order for them to be successful in their future endeavors.

My Project
My students need pencils, pens, erasers, glue, staples, tape, markers, post it notes, crayons, and pencil boxes for the new school year.
The majority of the students I serve come from low income families and need support getting the school supplies that they need to be successful in the classroom setting.
The addition of these supplies will enable the students to complete school work in class and help them to be able to be more in charge of their own learning. These items will help the students be more independent in the classroom and help them reach their educational goals for the school year.
