I teach a dynamic group of fabulous kindergarten students in an extremely diverse school in New York. My students love reading funny stories, writing, poetry, creating art, exploring in science, learning new words, building, dancing, singing, playing math games, playing with puppets, and learning new facts. We are obsessed with our composting worm bin!
My class absolutely loves our beloved puppet, Chef Lotsa Words.
He cooks up sight words, poems, vocabulary words, and books each day in his "magic" pot. My students are funny, enthusiastic, inquisitive, compassionate, and sweet.
My Project
I want my students to be ready for first grade in September! Studies have shown that students go down at least three reading levels over the summer. I want to avoid summer slide by providing my students with tons of books to read over the summer! It is hard for my students to find books at the library or book stores at their level. I would love to give my students a bag of books that they can read all summer long!
